The Firewire Mashup was born from the collaboration between Rob Machado and Dan Mann, combining the best of two of their most popular boards: the Seaside and the Spitfire. The result is an extremely versatile hybrid board that delivers excellent speed in small, weak waves, along with the performance needed for vertical maneuvers when conditions improve.
After numerous tests and adjustments, both shapers achieved a board that accelerates with the ease of the Seaside and responds with the precision and performance of the Spitfire. The Mashup is a true all‑rounder for everyday use, designed to become the board you’ll always want to keep in the car.
Wave type
The Firewire Mashup excels in 1 to 5‑foot waves, especially in small, mushy or low‑power conditions, yet it also performs confidently when the waves gain power.
Thanks to the combined DNA of the Seaside and the Spitfire, it offers excellent acceleration in weak waves and very solid performance in vertical maneuvers on higher‑quality waves.
Features
- Joint design by Rob Machado and Dan Mann.
- Combines the performance of the Seaside and the Spitfire.
- Highly versatile hybrid board for everyday use.
- Very easy to generate speed in small waves.
- Excellent performance in vertical maneuvers.
- Hybrid nose with extra volume to make paddling easier.
- Step rails in the rear third that allow volume to be hidden without losing sensitivity in the rails.
- Double concave along the entire bottom, more pronounced towards the tail to increase speed and responsiveness.
- Perfect balance between buoyancy, acceleration and maneuverability.
Helium Core Technology
Helium Core Technology is Firewire’s most popular construction, designed to deliver an extremely light, responsive and durable board.
Its stringerless EPS core incorporates a flex‑control system using parabolic rails made from Paulownia and Balsa wood, providing a very lively response and great ability to generate speed in typical surfing conditions.
Advantages of Helium technology:
- Stringerless EPS core.
- Parabolic Paulownia and Balsa wood rails.
- Lightweight, highly responsive construction.
- Excellent speed generation in small to medium waves.
- High strength and durability.
- Progressive flex that improves control and smoothness in turns.
